NIGERIA IS A BOOK
WRITTEN BY JOY EKPO

There was a country
Made up of black people with simple nature, but became objects of imperial enrichment .
Their entitlements been overtaken by industrial men, who gave little token in exchange for sons and daughters

Yes Nigeria is a book
Which will be read over and over till Messiah comes
Unfolding the storms of servitude and the quest to drink freedom waters
Legends were the caption

Yes Nigeria is an epic book for history
Written in patriotic chapters
flipping through pages of harmony
We were a family,
And nationality knew no cultural boundaries
Yes I was Igbo, you were Hausa and she was Yoruba, but we were together
Not until 1966 when crisis began a new chapter
Witnessing the directing of another story

Power was the razor
The razor initiating home grown slavery
Which still remains the reality
With tribalistic conscience wounding the placenta of our mother land

Today we cry
Tomorrow we weep
cattle turns ransoms for human life
As religion becomes a yardstick to survive
And place of citizenship the regret on everyone's lips
"If my parents were Hausa I would have gotten this job".

Autodemocray of no party system partying in our system
Artificial leadership with no friendship to it makers
What Went Wrong is the question that has already been answered even though it still begs for more answers
Is it our ignorance?
The greed that desires all to itself
Or the smartness that knows exactly what is is doing?

We must solve this question now
And do something Immediately afterwards
For God forbids the unborn generation sings this bitter song
We must move on for a reformation
We are ready !

Ready Nigerian youth give us a matching song

A pen or a pencil let's rewrite this book
